This from Shay/rovhazman arrived Friday; there was some damage in transit (the USPS delivered it in a big-window envelope, with an apology printed on the reverse). Shay writes that it's a common buzzard on a dead acacia, near Eilat; it reminds me of some of the Picasso/Braque mixed-media collage/paintings.

It would be nice to see the original ...

Thank you Mike for reporting.

This is a serious damage... It seems that it got wet (after all, it was sent from underwater... ). Here is a clean version of it:

@rovhazman

That's a pretty brilliant bird shot ... care to post gear/settings?

Mike, this is the gear/settings:

CAMERA     Sony ILCE-7RM2
LENS     Sony 70-400mm F4-5.6 G SSM (SAL70400G)
ISO     200
FOCAL LENGTH     400.0 mm (400.0 mm in 35mm)
APERTURE     f/5.6
EXPOSURE TIME     0.00063s (1/1600)

The lens was connected via Sony LA-EA3 adapter and I used AF with the central spot. This is a crop of the original photo.

@rovhazman

Thanks; this answers my implicit question, how did you get such total isolation of subject from b/g.

Aside from technical stuff, it's a great composition, plus the bird appears to be muttering "Paparazzi!" under its breath.

@aplmike, @rovhazman ... wow, that's some serious damage on that postcard! IIRC, I received one card out of maybe 50 in DPE challenges over the years that included an apology from a post office. I'll see if I still have that card somewhere ...

An update as I have received all cards now.
This one is from Greg (gregja), a beautifull Australian bird. Not what I expected based on his participation in several challenges, a bit abstract kind of shot. Like it a lot. Thanks Greg.

This colourfull card is from Lee (LAbernethy). It is a shot of the Canadian Pacific Holiday train which raises money, food and awarness for food banks, a great initiative! It arrived in good shape. Thanks Lee.

The last one is from Shay (Rovhazman) mailed from the depths of the Red Sea! Ha, a very special mailbox. The beach of Eilat, a nice composition. It arrived with a little damage close to the pole of the sunshade. Thanks Shay.

Thank you for reporting, Peter.

Nice to see another card arriving, this time relatively undamaged (after seeing how Mike received my card, this one is in great conditions...)

You’re welcome. Glad you like it. I still think there’s a couple of mine still to arrive somewhere out there...
