This is fun. You can certainly get the best out of your Contax Bob.
For my fourth 35mm film, developed, digitised and processed at home I used my fourth and final film camera, a Minolta X-700 attached to a MD 50mm f1.7. I have had this camera for 20 years, and never used it so I wasn't expecting great things, but it turned out okay. Took it with me on our morning dogs walk to Twyford Woods, a disused WWII RAF & USAAF base. First four (from a roll of 24 - Ilford HP5plus ISO 400) all feature Ollie and Rosie, my golden retrievers ![]() 4.1 ![]() 4.2 ![]() 4.3 ![]() 4.4 ![]() Edited by bonneville - 06 November 2020 at 14:21 |

The last 4 of my Contax G1 set...
bobj 8.09 – frame 27 - Him ![]() bobj 8.10 – frame 29 - Her ![]() bobj 8.11 – frame 33 - Rochester Castle ![]() bobj 8.12 – frame 35 - Castle curtain wall ![]() ...On the subject of developing - I found a roll of expired BW400CN, which is a C-41 film... but I heard you could develop in Rodinal... ...anyhow to test I remembered that my dad had found an old film in a camera my mum used to use - however Mum died 17 years ago, so it must have been fairly old (Colourama special) - anyhow I thought I would try out the Rodinal development. Was rather shocked when the film came out an almost solid grey, although on examining it turned out that there was an image but the base layer of the film was a sort of sludgy brown-grey (rather than the normal orange of a C-41 film)... Anyhow, I thought I would try to scan just to see if I could recognise anyone... and was amazed a how much the film scanner managed to get out of what looked like a really low-contrast negative. ...Will have to give the expired BW400CN a go! |

Ah the Minox 35EL..
I am conflicted over this camera. I’m generally tolerant of camera ergonomics, but the Minox tends to be a bit of a pig. It is awkward to load, has a single sprocket drive that means you need to be gentle winding on – plus the wind on is stiff and the rewind is awkward. Even the battery compartment is awkward to open. The only way of altering exposure for backlighting is to alter the ISO and that only goes up to 800… And then there is the lens. That gets it forgiven most stuff. These shots were taken with one of the ELs. This one only cocks the shutter if the camera is open (it is supposed to wind-on and set the shutter open or closed), but against the other usability issues, this one pales. Shots were on Agfa APX400 (a favourite reasonably cheap film) and development was in Fomadon R09 (Rodinal). ![]() I’ve just bought on eBay a working Weston V light meter to help me take the guessing out of using the Leica M2. I had thought of taking a digital camera just for the readings, and then thought it ridiculous ![]() |

10 rolls, 4 rolls, gee, I'm in 6 shots of 8 in my second roll for the challenge. Here is my Zenza Bronica SQ in action today:
![]() Ricoh GR III | 18.3mm | f/2.8 | 1/200s | 200iso It is loaded with Kodak Portra 160, which I find a bit slow for mid-November. I use my Sekonic 308s as a light meter (but I checked some readings with my Ricoh GR3) - but after seeing Thomas Heaton's latest YouTube video I am a bit worried about the results ![]() |

Well I've obviously got too many cameras and too much spare time on my hands...
![]() Upnor Castle – Upnor Castle was a fort built in Tudor times to protect the Dockyard at Chatham. It was basically a gun platform overlooking the Medway well stocked with Gunpowder - which obviously needed to be treated with care to avoid blowing the whole place up – hence they did a lot of work to avoid the chance of sparks… Incompetence led to its ineffectiveness when it actually needed to defend the dockyard in 1667 (one of those instances of invasion by a foreign power that English history tends to skate over a bit..). The last one (10.12 - frame 33) is special. A very successful use of Zenitar.

When I found a roll of expired Neopan Pro 1600 the other week, I thought to myself "How did I ever miss that - must use it!".
Having developed it, I'm maybe remembering why I avoided it and why I didn't weep too many tears when Fuji stopped making it. Really grainy and lots of curl in the film - plus I seem to have overestimated its ability to shoot in the dark when using the 7000i. It could be difficult sorting out 12 presentable shots from these... |

Did you shoot it at 1600? it might be better to use it as a slower film. From Rogerandfrances.com:
"Fuji's Neopan 1600 may just about be able to get in sight of ISO 800 in a speed increasing developer; Kodak's TMZ P3200 is hard put to top 1000; and Ilford Delta 3200, the fastest (and also the grainiest) can reach 1250 or so. In fact, one may regard Neopan 1600 as being (in the words of one emulsion chemist) 'a very good, very pushable ISO 400 film': it is less than 1/3 stop faster than Ilford HP5 Plus. This is why we say that it is disputable whether there are two or three ultra-fast films." (source) |

My next film is another roll of FP4+ through my Olympus OM4T.
Exposed at iso 200 and developed in 1-shot Microphen 1:1 for 14 minutes. Scanned as a negative on an Epson V700 photo and then imported the negatives into Lightroom and turned positive with the Negative Lab Pro plugin. This is the first time I use this method and it's both faster and to my eyes delivers better results than making the positives directly in the Epson driver. Only thing in lightroom is then to remember all the basic tone sliders as well as the tone curve and dodging/burning work in reverse. Clarity and contrast work as normal however, so it takes a little getting used to to PP the images. Here's the first four, three reflections and a shadow 1: Bonapartedok (Antwerp) ![]() 2: Grain silo on the Asiadok ![]() 3: River cruisers waiting for better (busier) times in the Asiadok ![]() 4: Shadow on the grain silo ![]() All OM4T + Tokina 35-70/2.8, no other exposure data noted down The next two sets with another 8 photos will have to wait until tomorrow, it's off to bed for me now ![]() |

Mind the bandwidth of others, don't link pictures larger then 1024 wide or 960 pix high, see here
