Same with the LA-EA4. Mine required a micro adjustment. The MonsterAdapter modification allows a larger focus area.

I wonder if there is much difference in AF performance between the EA4 and EA5 in this case. The EA5 should have (animal) eye AF but I haven't tried that yet. AF performance of Sony cameras has improved a lot of course, so the EA5 should have an edge, in tracking for instance.

I have the first version of the 800 (the black one). It is a tricky beast indeed. At the distances I shoot at with it, the depth of field is very thin. The focus lever is not very precise. Focus peaking is invaluable, but it is still not perfect. But even with that limitation, it is nice to have an 800mm reach that is hand-holdable.
To see is to enjoy. To see beyond is to rejoice.

What do you think of a mirror lens thread? Would there be enough interest? And we can stop posting here in Meyer.

woodrim

However, I have nothing to contribute there at the moment

Here we are guys!

Maybe a moderator could move the discussion above to the new thread?

Happy to make the move Leo, but then all the "mirror" posts above will merge before your OP and it will look a bit messy that way. So are you sure you want me to do that? Unfortunately we can't change the date/time stamp which sets the order in which the posts show up in the thread.
You can see the April Foolishness 2022 exhibition here Another great show of the talent we have on Dyxum

You're right Pieter, it would make a strange
start to the thread.

I haven't used my Domiplan much lately, but these are very nice and trigger me to get it out again. TFS Dena.
