I received one of the spares I asked for: Dena sent it to me. Nr 4 out of 5+5.

A High Key Great Egret at a Wildlife Refuge.

Some folded corners, ink and the red code on the front, backside with stamp etc. on a strange location: down under (Sorry, Mike )

It took about 10 days to fly across the Atlantic.

Thanks Dena!

Sorry for the poor scan.

Something similar here to commemorate Brettania.

That was indeed a very special occasion, I still vividly remember to go out on a rainy evening to take my shot and come home and watch his funeral service via an internet connection in the middle of our night.

The other thing we did which is slightly different from everybody shooting at the same moment in time is the "chasing the sun" challenge that Bob J ran a couple of times. Every participant would shoot a sunset near where he was on that particular day and Bob would then reorder the posts such that it put the shots in sequence as the sunset moved from east to west across the earth. Found an example here
You can see the April Foolishness 2021 exhibition here Another great show of the talent we have on Dyxum

I unfortunately missed brettania's event ... he was such a force here.

Yes, "chasing the sun" was the event. I think I posted one time. I'll look.

How is BobJ doing? I met him here in SoCal at the start of 2020, in Feb, pre-lockdowns. He's participated in the DPE in the past, I think.

You're welcome, will post your nice card soon. Postal clerk attached the stamp like that. Not sure why she did. Wildlife refuge... means federally controlled land with management and limited hunting. It's right on the Arkansas River with lots of wildlife and birds. Even had an endangered Whooping Crane show up a couple years ago. Animals are wild, come and go and migrate as they please and are not 'cared for' in any way except sometimes crops are planted and wildlife benefits. I've seen more Great Egrets locally this year than combined in past years.

My last two cards arrived here today, both from the USA, and in good condition with stamps top right, etc!

From @Dena a lovely shot of a piperine swallowtail

A small patch of franking ink on the OOF Lantana flower head bottom left, but otherwise in good condition with the silky matt finish.

And from @aplmike another nature shot, this time of fern leaves from a plant that by the sound of it has designs to take over his house

This has a silk finish, I think (silkier than Dena's), and no obvious blemishes.

Thanks Dena and Mike for the fine cards and indeed to Greg, Ian and Fred for their cards - an all round excellent set this year.

I Just received the card from Lee Abernethy: unharmed.

I'll scan it later as I'm about to leave for a week holiday to France.
Almost all gear is in the 2CV, our means of transport for the next week.

Second card arrived safely today from bms44974 Thanks Brian.

Three very faint indented lines running length of the card and a faint bar code the only marks on the front of card.

It's my fourth (of 5+ 5 bonus in total).

It depicts the remainders of Donningtn castle. I like the lady with the dog on the leading path.
It's high gloss Cewe postcard print, and arrived in good shape. There's only a red ink spot just above the castle. With the printed description on the back it has a classy and professional look.
Same stam as Harm's card above.

Part of the hand written text was covered by a postal service sticker, but I managed to carefully remove that.

Let's hope it will be reopened for public, so next year we will have a card with the view from the top!

Good to know a couple of my cards have reached their destination - 4 days to the Netherlands, not so bad.

I thought CEWE did a good job with the printing. Local history is another passion, so I thought they needed some explanation and printing it meant it fitted (there is no way I could handwrite so much in the space available). It certainly doesn't help when the post folk put a sticker over the message.

I am now wondering if there is a market for a set of postcards from the village!

And apologies for my dreadful handwriting.

Today I returned home from a 2 weeks holyday and I did not receive any cards.

To my embarrassment I found out that I passed on a wrong house number to all senders, a number that does not exist.

Unfortunately no cards were delivered to the adjacent numbers.
I contacted the dutch post about the situation, but they informed me that if mail cannot be returned, it will be destroyed.

I feel really stupid and I am terribly sorry. I pm-ed the senders a personal note.

I can certainly do one with MoonPig (if it can handle a Neder-address sensibly) and will do so. However, I don't have a record of which card went where and no scans of my cards have been posted yet (apart from the one I sent to myself). So I'll take the plunge and see if I can avoid duplication ...
