They can be completely avoided by just tilting the card a bit when viewing (I don't think tilting your monitor will eliminate them, however!). Thanks Hezu - I love negative space images and images shot into the sun, something I do not do very well.
Nice to hear that the card arrived in decent shape. And in case anybody wants to see that photo without the scan imperfections, it is included in my Open Views post A Cold Day in Suomenlinna from last January, where it is image #3.

Slight disaster here: the prints I ordered all arrived in a weird square format, and will not fit on the backs I have. I'm not sure yet whether this was my fault or the lab's. So I shall have to order new prints before I can send anything out.

But I will share images of the two cards I've received so far.

One from Peter (KoBra64) showing a very beautiful City Garden right outside his door:

And one from Brian (bms44974) with a scene from a local parade -- featuring Elvis!

EDIT: sorry about the stupid watermark - turned it on in Lightroom & forgot to turn it off at some point. I may redo these a bit later.

You are very welcome Greg.

It seems all of the 5 I sent have been received, which is nice to know. As they were of my sights in the village where I live I shall now post them in an Open View thread.

Another arrival today:

A very nice tryptichin a non standard size from the famous Dyxum cat Tortoise

Your model was very cooperative Mirek

On the back a personal and decicated DPE2021 stamp. I like it Mirek! I fact it was you who inspired me to start making my own designed stamps too.

The card arrived in good comsdition, with just a few thin horizontal scratches on the frontside.

Thanks Mirek!

That's now 8 of 10 recieved and 4 0f 7 confirmed.
My sent long distance cards (USA and NZ) are still underway, although the NZ one was sent later as a bonus card.
The two to recieve have to travel long distance too (from Australia and New Zealand). That will keep this thread alive for a while

Received from idleidolidyll (New Zealand) to me (U.S.) in 14 days. A large card with no damage to most of the image but with some small chunks missing and scuffing around the edges. The address label had been partly torn away, eliminating the first digit of my house number, but it still made it through obviously.

Using the soft cotton rag paper, I was expecting edge damage but to be honest, I actually LIKE it! Because it's a postcard that has traveled some 13,000km, I think that edge damage is a badge of honour.

I was more worried about heavy scuffs across the surface defacing the image.

Completely agree - it's part of the charm - a sign of character.

Another card from Mike (Idleidolidyll) arrived today.

A beautiful large size, matt printed piece of art, called 'The tunnel'.
The picture of the back shows the structure of the card.

Only a few white wear spots at the corners, but further in good state.

Marked 13 October, so 10 days to travel form New Zealand to the Netherlands.

I like the wise words of the Maori proverb and Your picture is certainly not cliché Mike!

Mauruuru !

Coming back from France I found cards of Idleidolidyll, from Mirek and from Ian.

I confess: I asked 4 people for one of their spares. Too much fun.

Tomorrow or mondays I'll scan these gems.

Thanks so far!

Thanks Fred; it's one of my favourite bike photos and that's my wife Sue in the tunnel. Glad it arrived with so little damage too.

We just got back from a long weekend trip tonight, Monday 10/25/21 ... found two postcards in my PO box! Howard's card and a spare card from Mike/Idleidolidyll. Both cards took a little over two weeks to arrive from England and NZ respectively, surprisingly fast.

I'll scan and post tomorrow when I have a bit more energy. Just wanted to let folks know the cards are still arriving fast and furious.

My current count:

* 4 of 6 sent cards have arrived
* 5 of 7 cards received

Nice work, all!
