OK, let's go! Here is the sending schedule for DPE 2023.

Other then previous years we have tried to really optimise the total flying distance of all cards togehter. However, with some regions more present than others, and the rule to send/recieve 5 cards each, your cards won't always fly to the other side of the world. Also you may have to send a card to someone that was on your list last year as well, but it's always nice to stay in contact .

Therefore, this year the is not a list where you have to send to the next 5 persons, but please see the table below.

To make this happen each person should PM their postal address to the 5 people that are ticked in the vertical column under your name.
For example Pegelli should PM his postal address to Adub128, MartyMoose, Bonneville, Kobra64 and jvsanchez.

Don't post your address here!!

One additional request is to write the date on your card. Sometimes it's hard to see when a card was sent since the postmark can be non-existent or illegible.

If you have more than 5 cards available then just announce it in this thread. Usually there are volunteers to get one of those via a PM with their address.

When PMing your postal address please mind its formatting - put it in exactly the same format as expected by your post office: different countries use different formatting and it can be painful to make sure that all is done correctly.

As usual the unspoken agreement is that postal addresses exchanged by PMs will be used solely for the purpose of Dyxum Postcard Exchange. Please mind privacy of fellow Dyxumers!

Have fun all and don't forget to report the cards you received here in this thread!!

****************************************

Thank you for organising this, you have defenitely improved the process here.

I noticed with the new system that some people are sending and receiving postcard from the same person. So for example I am both sending and receiving a postcard from xolunanoke.
I personally have only one I can see others have more than one in common for sending and receiving.

In the old system was you sent and received postcards from 5 completely different people. I liked this about the old system and would like it preserved for next time (assuming we are going to continue with the new system).
Not sure how folks feel about it but just thought I'd mention it....

Indeed, we haven't solved that issue yet, but due to the lack of time we, read Fred, posted it as it is now.
We certainly will try to look at it and try to prevent this .

I dropped off 9(!) postcards today -- 7 with international postage, 2 domestic -- 5 from my list, plus 4 extras. Godspeed postcards, safe travels!

I have spares, and can always print more. DM your contact info if you'd like one from me.

I was checking my notes and this is the 10th DPE I have participated in -- 2012, '14, '16-2023!! I have all of the cards I have received in little 4x6 photo albums, except for the oversized cards I have received over the years. The big cards are just loose in the albums.

For me, there is something special about having a physical image in one's hands. And I love seeing the world through the eyes of other Dyxum photographers.

I'm sure we will continue the DPE tradition next summer/fall! It only takes one of us to remember to post something around August announcing the event. This year's algorithm was to maximize mailing distances ... we can adjust parameters next year.

I wonder how many of our post cards are on a plane at this very moment? Hmm ...

Luna and I are STILL WAITING on Amazon to deliver our postcard backs. As soon as we get those, we'll have them in the mail for all our fellow dyxumers.

There's no rush. Send your cards when you guys are ready.

I just ordered some postcard backs from Amazon to re-stock, the Photographer's Edge ones that I like ... these are taking a few extra days to get here. Maybe us Dyxumers are ordering them all up, LOL!

I can report that instead of using the online postcard sending service, I did this time order postcard prints so I will actually see the cards before I send them. I don't yet know how soon I get them, but probably within a week or so.

Mine have been dispatched by CeWe (to me), but we're suffering unreliable postal deliveries here at the moment, so it might be a while before I can turn them round and send them out around the world (two to the same address in Texas, one to another US state, one to Poland, and one to Netherlands).

Am I meant to be hogging Texas like this?

Am I the first to receive one of their postcards? It looks like I might be for today in my postbox was a super card from Harald (waldo_posth). It is in near pristine condition having travelled well with only a couple of small machine scrapes on the front and the usual postal service franking marks on the stamps.

The photo is of a housing society building in Berlin that has some controversy attached to it, but Harald likes the colours and has captured them very well. As is often said, the scan does not do the vibrant colours justice.

Here it is, front and back.

Thank you very much, it will go into my growing collection of Dyxum postcards:
