Yep. They will go on working for a while but I wouldn't use them in anything expensive. When they deteriorate that way they can overheat. There used to be warnings of Lithium cells catching fire on charging, and they always recommended never to charge them in situ, though nowadays charging in situ is pretty much unavoidable with phones. ![]() |

Please do not use batteries that swell.
Li-Ion is not a fun thing when it goes wrong. Look up Samsung Galaxy Note Exploding bBattery on any search engine and watch the videos. These are not pranks. If you value the home you live in, and the people that are in it, then find a safe place to dispose of any battery that swells (today, like right now) and buy a proper replacement - saving a few pennies on a explosion and fire risk is not worth losing your home over. |
