I got the details of the part from him

I need the following part:
2186040203
DC DC PCB ASSY

Have you got any suggestions of where can I find this???

I would be very grateful for any response.

Shoot me a PM, I can pull one from one of the 5Ds I have with bad AS assemblies.

I have a 7D that I hadn't checked on for awhile, and now it has the FFB issue. Stupid me, I missed the recall deadline and Precision Camera quoted $350 for repairs.

I'm interested in selling it, but would like to clear at least $80 from the deal (otherwise I might just hang on to it--not sure why). I'm in Illinois--the Chicago area. I'd prefer to list it somewhere rather than do a more informal exchange; I suppose we could use E-bay even though I loathe it--I'd prefer to find some way to set it up through Amazon Marketplace(I sell under my wife's account: Michelle072304).

If someone is interested I'll take a closer look at it, but as far as I can tell everything else works and I still have all of the accessories, box, and manuals. I may have lost that damn LCD screen protector again, though. It has, at most, 9000 shutter activations. It could be as low as 7000. KM already repaired it once. The dof preview button didn't work. I have all the documents from the repair.

Anyway, let me know if you're interested or want more information (or if it would be smarter to post this somewhere else).
Thanks

I will be making time to exchange the nonfunctional AS assembly in my Alpha 7D from the functional Maxxum 7D in the next week week.

This means that I will have a mostly disassembled Maxxum 7D for parts request.

P.S. The donor does have a shutter issue(Bright(er) at top of frame).

The little door for the video out port on my 7D slides down a bit too easily. Does anyone want to sell me a memory card door for a low price? Im in the US, zip code 91764.

I am trying to fix my 15 year old son's Minolta 7D and I think it's the internal battery (the one that really is not easy to change) as he needs to set the date and time every day he uses it. Not a big deal because he doesn't care a bout the date and time....but I'm concerned it doesn't deal with dead pixels properly and remember which got eliminated (shut off).

I need to take the camera apart and probably do some electrical work....nothing I can't handle...I just need the battery. If it's connected to a small board and swapping out the board is easier...I would like to get the small board with the battery on it already...I like what ever way is easier.

I posted a WANTED: DEAD Minolta 7D topic and posting here was suggested.

I don't have a lot of money, but please let me know if you have the part I'm looking for. If it's the whole camera body or if it's just the board with the battery, either way is good with me.

Thank you very much.

I see that you tried Precision Camera for the FFB issue. Though it is a good place it is just so far away. Why not try more local? United Camera in Bensenville, IL might be able to help you out. They helped me out with the skipping rear wheel on my A700. I paid around $120 for the service. Everything works great now.

Perhaps they can help you and you can keep the camera.

I am looking for a rubber eyepiece for a Maxxum 7D (I supposed the 5D used the same?). I am located in the US.

Posting a "wanted" message in the wanted to buy section as well.

Thanks!

Bill,

don't forget though that any replacement board will also have a battery on it of similar 'vintage' and be more likely to fail earlier than a new rechargeable cell. While you have gone as far as stripping the camera down it would make more snse to me to simply replace the cell.

Hope it goes well

Nigel

Nigel,

That is a great point.

I thought though the internal battery/cell was not available though????

Am I wrong? Am I just assuming because it's Minolta and they're no longer making this camera (or any) that I can't get the part?

Where would I get a new battery?

Thanks for the thought.

Hi,

My minolta 7D has fail to start recently which i suspect it is related to the Anti-Shake. i have open up the camera and do found it is related to Anti-Shake. I have fix it. But some how, after i reassemble the camera, top assembly (both knot does not work), i have trouble shoot by opening and close the body several time, and now i found the problem.

I found that the top assembly cover flex Assy (2181-0470-01 ) then the end ribbon connection is broken, that why the whole top assembly fail to work. This might be broken when i have disassemble it without open the latch.

I am looking for spare part for my 7D, preferable that you can ship me the entire Top panel or a dead body due to Anti shake. I will replace my part with your. Second option is , ship me the top cover flex assy. I am not sure how difficult is the disassemble of the top. Looking at the service manual it look simple. i will give it a try.

I am willing to pay for the shipping. let me know if you have the spare part that i am looking for.

I have an old 5D that stopped working a while ago. I have it put back into the box it came with + batteries, charger, everything except the strap.

If anyone needs one make me an offer.

Bill

I cannot see them using a totally proprietory battery.

I know Pete Ganzel reads this thread so... Pete, what type of cell is it please?

essing a small LiIon or NiCad which should be available for a parts supplier. Bill, if you have real problems, shoot me the cell type number when you have it and I will check with UK vendors (there's one that I use and I haven't beaten him yet with 'odd' battery requests).
