I have a 7D that had AS failure too. It went for repair at the place in Milton Keynes (Actually it's been there twice!)
I hear now that if any sort of failure occurs the 7D is finished as there ain't anywhere that repairs them - except maybe somewhere in Germany?! I therefore have the AS turned off as I REALLY don't want to lose the 7D as it's my favourite camera by far - I have a Sony 100, 200, 550, 700 & 77. It's the only one that feels old-school just like cameras used to feel! I'm looking at them on ebay and considering buying another body as backup cos I would dread the day I can't use my Minolta any more... If I go away on holiday, it's the Minolta that comes with me along with the 28mm Minolta prime - Like a partnership in heaven! I think that's the way to go anyway - buy off anyone wanting to sell rather than buying a broken one and fixing the parts together - but then I'm sure loads of you guys know how to do that?! I wouldn't know where to start!!! Tom. |

I might be in MK on the weekend if you fancy meeting up? Sunday specifically, I think. Unless things change?

So, my KM 5D has been a practically terminal. Take a piccy and the the camera locks up and doesn't even store it; 90 percent of the time using it. Some of the times it does take a picture.
However, I've upgraded now and I thought I'd post in here because I've got a few spares left over and was wondering what the interest for these parts were any more? So. KM 5D Body Battery Charger (Non OEM)(SG-IC032) Input 12/24vdc and 240vac 4 Batterys: 1 x Genuine 7.4v 1500mah 2 x Non OEM 7.4v 1500mah 1 x Non OEM 7.4v 1750mah Might have some other bits and bobs but I'm hanging onto the lenses and everything as it's compatible with the Sony I now have. Not sure what they're worth but I doubt much these days, but rather than just throw them out... |

It's such a shame these wonderful bodies keep on dieying. While today we have lots of cameras from 20 or even 40 years ago (even more, really)working as good as they did at the time or even better, I don't think the next generation (ie my sons and grandsons - ps: i'm 21)will have the opportunity to explore old bodies like we do with film cameras today.

I also recently found I had a vertical grip for the 5D and briefly had it on sale here but other complications surfaced. For example, do you know how hard it is to send anything with more than on lithium battery abroad?! Major headache!
Anyway, I've got all the parts here together now, so I guess at some point I shall make up a properly formatted FS page and get it right next time ;) Otherwise I just see the camera going onto a shelf as a display piece... |

Does anybody know what a working body only 7D will realistically go for? The only fault I have with mine is with the batteries, other then that it works fine, since I have got my A77 I never use the camera anymore which is a shame.

Can you dial in some compensation to get the exposure right or is it too far off for that?

As a thought, has anyone got in touch with Camera Repair Workshop in MK to enquire if they would accept donated 5D and 7D's for parts?

Ahoy Matt! What exactly is the battery issues you describe? I can only assume either the battery/ies is/are old and doesn't hold a full or sufficient charge for the 7D to function or there's a contact issue which may just require a wipe to clean them of any tarnish build-up. Do you still have the 7D and if so, are you going to list it? I think most peoples main concerns are with first frame black (FFB) which is an expensive fix and not financially viable based on the likely selling price in proper working condition as you'll probably be lucky to recover just the repair bill. I'm just being a nosy parker, but an update would be welcome. |

I've still got the body for my 5D, but it's a monument now. Not sure if I kept the batteries or chargers though...

Is anyone is actively looking for a fully functional Dynax 5D, let me know. It's not ready for the knackers yard just yet.
