I have an old 7000i body that from what I understand is supposed to be the American version of the 7000. Thing is, is that it looks like an 8000 body? Can someone clue me in on the 7000i body and why I can’t find info on it, just the 7000 and 8000. Thanks for any help you can provide.

The 7000i was the first model of the second generation of AF cameras and was introduced in 1988 versus 1985 for the original 7000.
It added 2 AF sensors on the side of the central single sensor found on the original series and allowed for continuous AF It also had a new feature that allowed to use program cards that allowed to change/customize/adapt to certain specific situations where the body would make an intelligent decision ( thus the i in the name) The 8000 you mention should also have this i at the end of its model name and should be marked as 8000i which was introduced a little later and was a slightly more advanced model with 1/8000sec shutter with 1/200sec X-Synch. Surprised you can't find info on it since it probably outsold the 8000i but quite a lot since it was sold for at least an extra year |

The 7000 was from the first series of Minolta AF cameras. The 7000i was from the second series.

Ok, so that clears that up.
![]() I inherited this body and want that to shoot black and white film with it. My primary camera is an A6000. I’m going to upgrade early next year to a Sony full frame primarily for video. |

I'm amazed you can't find info on the 7000i, I just googled it and got a wikipedia entry, several reviews/blogs and, of course Michael Hohner's page for it.
You can download the manual here. |
