Almost every day has been wet this month, Thursday's forecast was promising but wasn't looking so good when the day arrived. We'd had enough of being indoors so took our waterproofs for a walk. Here are some views from the dry spells.

1. The path to Llyn Ogwen (llyn is Welsh for "lake")

2.

3. Fly agaric mushrooms, traditionally used as an insecticide. The cap was broken up and sprinkled into saucers of milk. It's known to contain ibotenic acid, which both attracts and kills flies.

4. We turned off the path to cross the A5 road for the path to Llyn Cowlyd, to make a circular walk, crossing a stream via this rough stone bridge.

5. Two views of the distinctive hulk of Tryfan, at 917.5 metres (3,010 feet) above sea level it is the 15th highest peak in Wales.

6.

7. Sunshine on wet rock.

8. The path was very boggy, despite drainage channels.

9. Llyn Cowlyd.

10. Moorland water tumbles into the lake.

Alan,

I don't see any images. On occasion this happens and others see images and I do not, but usually others aren't seeing them as well. Just wanted to let you know.

Am getting "Connection timed out" to https://www.zen70752.zen.co.uk (where the photos are), tried two different browsers (because Firefox is more sensitive than the pack of Chrome derivatives)

https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/zen70752.zen.co.uk?proto=https&www=1 thinks its down too so I don't know how it works for some people.

Ah, I tried my iPhone (via the same internet connection) and that worked. I think it's a browser/browser-and-platform thing, whether the browser converts http -> https automatically. Because http://www.zen70752.zen.co.uk/alan/dyxum/damp%20walk%208.jpg works on the desktop too albeit with warnings. It's just that some browsers have started automatically doing this but obviously it won't work if there is no https on the target domain. https://howchoo.com/chrome/stop-chrome-from-automatically-redirecting-https

Nice and moody landscape shots!

Alan,
Looks wonderfully rugged and unspoiled, despite the few signs that have seen better days, of human intervention.
All very fine images, of which ##1, 2, 4 and 5 appeal most to me.
Great to be able to see this with you via Dyxum.

Thanks Peter, David and Joe.

Looks to be a Chrome issue, On the desktop I can see it on Firefox and Edge but not Chrome, same issue with Chrome on my Android tablet.

I've had a reply from Zen...

Looking at the page with developer tools open (F12) it appears the browser is trying to pull the picture from the Zen source using HTTPS:// rather than HTTP://. As the Zen free hosting has no SSL security certificate the chrome-based browsers are throwing a security warning and not displaying the picture.

I've fixed this for Edge by going into
Settings
Cookies and site permissions
Insecure content
and allowing https://www.dyxum.com

This should allow any images hosted on http servers to be displayed on dyxum.

On Chrome
Settings.
Under 'Privacy and security', click Site settings and then Insecure content.
Next to 'Not allowed', click Add and insert https://www.dyxum.com

Hi Alan, on my desktop both Firefox and Chromium turn http to https. I tried following your advice, to add both to "Allowed" (seems to make more sense) as well as "Not allowed), I also added http://zen70752.zen.co.uk under "Allowed"; then tried the advice in the link in my post above ( https://howchoo.com/chrome/stop-chrome-from-automatically-redirecting-https ) and that didn't work either.

Your images are not an ATM but the web is nevertheless moving rapidly to https. (Sometimes even for smaller lan web services). There are free hosting options like Flickr that do https. I suppose the zen service is the first I've heard of for a couple of years that do http.

Strange, works for me on Chrome and Edge on my desktop. Chrome on my tablet doesn't aappear to have those settings so nothing I caan do about it.

I switched from flickr to my free zen hosting when flickr was sold to aanother company and they messed with the pricing. I can find alternatives to zen but there must be lots of old http images on dyxum as well as mine.

It's not Chrome. Using Chrome on a Windows laptop I cannot see the images in the post, but I can right click and 'Open image in new tab'. So Chrome is happy to open them despite the http rather than https.

And, Alan, the problem is widespread - I checked a previous post from you which I clearly remember seeing in the past (in Telephone Box themed thread) - and the pictures are not appearing.

Yes, it shows images addressed directly but with a warning. Images within a thread are suppressed.

Have you tried altering the settings as above? I'd be interested to know if it works for you.
