Hello everyone. I just wanted to make a post regarding a new member on Dyxum. This person's handle is "christine900" and I now noticed that this person joined DYXUM on February 1, 2022. So, not an old established member whatsoever.

This individual messaged me regarding a post I made regarding a Konica Minolta VC-7D vertical grip that I have been trying to get my hands on now that I have a KM Maxxum 7D. Well, this person indicated to me that they had a friend that had one and provided me with his email, "Tommi00545@gmail.com." Well, needless to say, after a number of email exchanges I got a little suspicious. First, this individual provided me with a picture of a grip that was definitely not a VC-7D grip. I didn't think anything of it at the time other than, "they made a mistake." I wrote them back and said, "sorry, that's not the correct grip." However, I went on to send them images of what it did look like. Well, this individual emailed me back with a new picture telling me, "this is what my wife has." I said, "Yes, that's it!" So after some banter he asked me what my address was for shipping it. I gave him my shipping address and we agreed upon $100 for the grip and shipping total. He wanted to use Zelle for money transfer. I went on to ask for some more pictures, detailed close ups, so that I can get a good idea of the cosmetics before I commit to a purchase. He sends me one image and I recognized it. Just one image and I asked for many all around pictures of the grip. That's when I realized this person is scamming me. I did a quick search and there was the image online on an old ebay sale in which I did contact that individual about the grip a few weeks ago. No money was transferred thankfully. However, I wanted everyone to know we have a THIEF on Dyxum.

Hi Niko,

First, it's very reassuring to hear you managed to avoid getting scammed like this - the world appears to be increasingly populated with unscrupulous people I'm afraid.

I will report this to the Sales/Admin team in the background and we will make sure that particular account is blocked if it hasn't already been done (we are normally quite good now at spotting suspicious new members).

It is a very useful warning to all our Members to keep their wits about them if dealing with Members who they haven't seen on here before and never worry about reporting what seems like suspicious activity or behaviour up to the Admin team - we can look into it for you.

Again, glad it turned out well for you in the long run.

Thanks for reporting NIKO, I ran across a very similar scam on another forum, even using the same or very comparable names. So christine900 is now suspended. But we'll leave this thread here in place to alert our members to this type of scam practice.

I would NEVER send money to anyone that I did not know was 100% reputable. Problem solved. BUYER BEWARE!!!
