The A7r4 probably also is out of your price range - but that one also is like the new body. You have to wait until they store the A7IV I guess.
The difference between the A7r2 and A7r4 is big. I didn't mind the A7r2 for use with small lenses, but the A7r4 has a much better grip that will help with heavier lenses. Try it before you dismiss it. |

The body I liked most was the A7, except for the weird placement of the exposure button. The A7ii and A7Rii I use now are fine but I mostly use small manual lenses so that is in line with what Addy says.
And with bigger lenses I support the system by holding the lens anyway, so I really don't need (or want) a bigger body or bigger grip to hold it better, but that shows that ergonomics is very personal, so it's best to hold the system you intend to use in real life before buying if you can. |

Our friend Gustav (AKA IJsvogel) did a webinar on the A7 IV (in Dutch).
First part is about his nature photography on Helgoland (nice place for a DM? ![]() If you pre-order a camera through the organising camara store of this webinar this week, Gustav will provide a personal explanation when you collect the camera. Here is the recording of the webinar. Edited by Fred_S - 01 November 2021 at 22:38 |

I keep finding that Real-time tracking AF is not working that well on my RIV. I wonder if or how much this new camera would be better.
I used the A77II yesterday with the Sony 70-300 G SSM II, and that combination seemed to do well in AF-C at 8 FPS. It is too bad it does not have live-view at that rate. |
