Very interesting.
I purchased my A700 back in '07. Fortunately, I still have no issues with the operation of either of these wheels. Caruso |

@Jorgen1. thanks for the info, this is really helpful. Just curious how much the replacement part cost?

Exactly. Very helpful indeed. One question still: I did not get it from the video if the wheel with the contacts is above the rotating adjustment wheel in the A700 body or below. Can you tell me, please? |

That wheel that was disassembled was the front wheel which sits vertically, in that case the wheel is in front of the contacts if looking from the rear of the body. So for the rear control wheel the contacts would be below the wheel.
EDIT: parts cost has gone up since I bought mine but that was 3 years ago now? P/N 202 from SearsPartsDirect is $91 and I now see that it's not an OEM part either. But at least it's still available.

Stiurks has already explained how the contactwheel is positioned in regard to the thumbwheel.
Dingbat_74, I payed 118Euro plus freight, in total about 130Euro. Quite expensive in relation to the value of the camera but I want to have my gear in good shape, I also wanted to test y skills as cameratechnichian :-) |

@stiurks , @jorgen1
Thank you both for this information. Hmm $130 euro does seem high, I wonder if the controlswitch in question is the same as the one on the sony vertical grip. I have a vertical grip that I didn't use very much, maybe it might make sense to take the wheel from the grip and use it on the body instead... hmmm.. any thoughts if this would be feasible? |

I hardly beleive that will be possible. The controlwheels are part of an assembly toghether with the buttons on top of the camera, ISO, Drive, WB and ±. Once the switch itself has been disassembled like I did on the video it is beyond repair. You have to brake it to take it completely apart.
