If it's under warranty you should get if fixed - there is no point making do with an unreliable camera when it would cost nothing to put it right.

Steady Shot errors have their own orange warning icon in the viewfinder so it's obvious that Sony knows they occur not so infrequently. These errors may happen when the actuators cannot travel far enough or are worn or bent. This can cause intermittent steady-shot errors. However they normally DON'T cause the camera to freeze, it just (temporarily) disables the feature and goes on shooting while displaying the warning.

The freezing of your A77ii suggests it may have other problems too.

I will also mention that there have been numerous reports of problems when using steady-shot to also stabilize the viewfinder image (shutter half-press). I think almost all A77ii users normally have turned off this menu setting. The old Minolta type stabilizer (used in all Sony A-mount cameras except A99ii) don't seem to be up to the task of continuous action when the camera is shaking.

I would have expected that Kamera-Express were responsible for the warranty, but somebody else might be even better. They will just send it to Sony.

Just a thought, if you bought with credit card, it might offer some warranty protection also.

Thanks again for the replies.

I've read about view finder steadyshot problems, maybe that is part of the problem, I checked and it is turned on. I probably thought let's put everything that says steadyshot on That's not an option in the A77 right? So I probably won't miss it if I turn it off.

Maybe the freezing only occurs when the battery is low, I don't know, but it's something that should be checked out by a repair service, at least for my peace of mind.

I had contact with the right store and I still have warranty, the problem is I'm going on a big (photo)trip in a few weeks and I'm a bit concerned that it won't be back in time. Currently debating with myself if I will send it in, or wait 'till I get back. The warranty is valid untill the end of the year...
