I dropped my A77II, the rear display broke. I have another A77II with a permanent failure whose display is still working.

Does anyone here know how to swap the displays?

To tried by removing the 2 little screws at the lower end of the moveable display, but I could not easily remove the cover, and I didn't want to apply force in fear of causing permanent damage.

Anyway I am not sure if it is possible to just swap the display itself, or if it is necessary to swap the display with the whole tilt/swivel mechanism. I guess the latter would require to open the camera body itself to unplug the cable, which I'd like to avoid if possible.

Any useful tips are highly appreciated!

Personally, I'd probably just swap the backs and have done with it , rather than mess with the fiddly bits to replace the smaller components.

In the meantime I found this youtube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvBWyVLEjh0&t=27s

With this "instruction" I removed the broken display from my A77II and replaced it by the one from an older A77 which stopped working some time ago, where the display is unharmed. From outside, this display looks identical, but after opening it I saw that the PCB looks a little different and is also placed differently in the monitor case. But since it had the same connector I mounted it on the A77II anyway.

But this did not work, so I put it back on the A77.

I then pulled out another A77II that had exhibited a permanent error message last year that I wasn't able to overcome back then. Its display glass also has cracks, but at least it is basically working. To try if the display is still working as I remembered from last year I put a battery in this camera. Surprisingly this camera now returned to work normally!

I hope it keeps working when I need it next time.

I had two broken a77ii, one with e broken display and the other with a broken stabilitation. I swap the back of the camera with the broken display with the other. And it works.
