Hi,

Which camera is better for video?
I currently have an Rii and am sick of getting dirt on the sensor from changing lenses between photography and video (nature of my job as I use a gimbal)
I'd like to buy a second camera body and, while I know there's later model Sonys out there, my requirements don't necessitate the latest equipment so I was considering purchasing an Sii for one or the other tasks.

I know the Sii is faster on the shutter while the Rii delivers bigger size images. I'm just not 100% up on the video difference between the two.

cheers!

The A7SII resolution maps 1:1 to 4K UHD. You could say it was designed for video. The A7RII doesn't use all of its pixels for full-frame video capture. The crop video mode on the A7RII is better, but not as good as the A6300/A6500.

The one drawback of the A7SII for video is autofocus--it only has contrast-detect AF.

The A7III does full pixel coverage 6K capture and downsample like the A6300/A6500/A9. That requires a slower capture time so rolling shutter is a bit worse. Many people expect an A7SIII soon.

Thanks QuietOC, great info! I'll have a look at the A7III.
