Perspective distortion

The Emirates a380 on left is miles farther away than the JetBlue 737(?) but at first glance it looks closer.
The 737 was at the jetway by the time the a380 landed, those things are huge
Distance maybe 12k/7miles approach to JFK - maybe from Milan? Saturday 4/9 1750pm

re Dulles Airport
Rightly or wrongly I'd always assumed it was named for Alan Dulles US Foreign Secretary in the 50's/60's - clearly wrong
Thanks

According to the Wikipedia page of Alan Dulles:
"His older brother, John Foster Dulles, was the Secretary of State during the Eisenhower Administration and is the namesake of Dulles International Airport."

I think the town of Dulles is named after the airport, as the wikipedia page for the town mentions:
"The usage of Dulles as a community name began in the mid-1980s when Loudoun County economic development officer Pam Treadwell successfully lobbied[1] the United States Postal Service to allow Sterling businesses and residents to use Dulles as an alternative address."

Dulles airport is named Dulles since 1962 and the town is called Dulles since the 1980's. I think both the city and the airport are named after the Dulles brothers.
