A few of the Melbourne shops keep stocks of the A99II on hand if you ever need to make an impulse purchase.

That's very kind of you to offer!

Any time you find yourself in Melbourne, just holler and I'm happy to show you around. You can even borrow some lenses if you want to play with (oops, test ) your brand new A99II while you're here.

I also noticed this a couple of years ago.. I walked into a camera shop in Cape Town with Sony Alpha emblems all over the windows only to be told that they only stock E-mount gear. The man in the store looked at me like I had two heads asking about A-mount gear, either cameras or lenses

Inevitable really that the smaller markets would be dropped first is what I thought at the time.

The support for A-mount in the Sony era was never great here in the first place so I don't really feel like I'm missing anything. I had to send my camera in for repairs to the battery compartment a few years ago and it had to be shipped to Dubai to carry out the work. I'm unsure as to whether there was more 'support' or a market for A-mount here in the KM/Minolta days.. but if the used market is anything to go by it never really gained a foothold in comparison to Canon, Nikon or even the later non-Sony offerings. I still see camera stores sporting Olympus and Panasonic stuff. But no A-mount.

Encouragingly(?) though it seems like every second non-P+S camera I see is an E-mount of one type or another.

Signs of the times! But the plethora of gear from other parts of the world will keep me invested for sometime I expect.
