Last week I received another request to approve the publication of one of my pictures in a course book, and today I got the confirmation that it will be used and printed in the coming days.

Where the previous one was a bit confusing already (a close up mushroom for a book about landscape photography), this time I was completely flabbergasted.

Here is the (IR) picture

Taken with my SONY NEX-5N, full spectrum converted with the SONY18-55mm OSS lens. All fine so far, but here is the clue:

The book is called: 'Taking pictures with your Canon camera'. They must be desperate for good pictures with that brand
I double checked if they had seen my exif data, but I was the first one to ask that question. Apparently they prefered to publish nice pictures to demonstrate technique, not necesarrily taken with a Canon.

Well, anyhow I will get a free copy of the book, so I am curious (again) what the storyline will be around my picture and keep you posted.

Beautiful picture, Fred. It must be the way you hold your camera, to make it into a book about Canon cameras!

The picture is Cannonball-quality!

It is a beautiful image - and well deserved. I hope you get something out of it - even when it's only a few 's or at least a copyright notice...

Here it is! The free copy of the book landed on my doormat today.
Th picture covers half a page, in the last chapter about using filters in photography.
They added the text: 'The use of an infrared filter creates a special atmosphere'. Can't deny that statement in this course book .

Interesting that there appears to be camera/lens settings listed for your photo, but for some reason there is no information on the camera model and lens...

Guess what? I earned another photography book with a publication of one off my pictures. This time the book is about travel photography.
They picked a photo from the dome in Mosta (Malta, 2019)

Great shots, and great to see, even if the IR image is in a Canon branded instruction book.
With the rise of Sony through mirrorless, it's no longer the 'orphan' of serious photography, so we don't have to carry any chips on our collective shoulders.
All goes to prove that a great image is just that, regardless of the brand of camera.
