Hey Peter,

I see a little Orange in the background of the first photo with Max in the foreground! What a difference a little rain can make -- we actually had an interesting race -- for a change! I've been to many races in my younger years at the Hockenheimring. And often on race days when condition were right we could hear the cars like they were in our backyard at our home in Dielheim.

Nice photos, thanks for sharing! I have to admit, I'm not at all familiar with Meyer! Other than the nice photos you are all sharing

Kind regards,

Kelly

Hi Kelly,

Attending the F1 at Hockenheim was a birthday present to my wife and it was our first visit to the F1 circus. It was a blast! Placed at the right turn we saw Leclerc, Hulkenberg and Hamilton and their slippery moves in front of us. But most of all Max winning the race.
I was not familiar with that part of Germany but it is a beautiful part. We were camping at the Neckar close to Heidelberg. Worth a visit one day. Were you stationed there with the US army?

Kind regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

Hope you didn't have any breathing issues what with all that orange smoke!

I was not in the military there. My father was a civilian employee working for the US Army there from 1955 to 1979. I basically grew up in the Heidelberg area. Our High School graduation was in the castle overlooking the Neckar river. Anyway I know Heidelberg well. Sad that there won't be more German GPs in the foreseeable future. But I hear there will be a Dutch GP at Zandvort. I've been to two F1 races at Zandvort. I've been to several GPs at the old Nürburgring.

Always nice to see someone other than Hamilton and Mercedes win. The rain at Hockenheim leveled the playing field and we were treated to some exciting racing. And you were lucky to see a lot of action were you were sitting!

Kelly
