Excellent question, current weatherforecasts are not helping

Buienradar predicts dry tomorrow as of 9:00 and all day sunday
Buienradar Antwerpen 5-daagse

Meteovista predicts rain all saturday but dry sunday afternoon
Meteovista Antwerp 48 hours
Meteovista Antwerp 14 days (click on sunday to see morning/afternoon/evening)

My general experience is that Buienradar is slightly optimistic in their forecasts while Meteovista is slightly pessimistic. But in this case that doesn't help much, both have not been nominated for the "weatherforecasters hall of fame"

So sunday seems a safer bet but I don't mind taking the risk for saturday. What do you all think?

Maybe we take another look mid-afternoon and see if anything changed significantly but I would like to take a final decision today so everybody knows when to come.

The predictions for saturday are clear - 100% rain - also on kmi.be - i put my bets on sunday.

It seems that the chanses are big that sunday will be the better day of both. I'm comming by train - that's by far the easiest way to reach the zoo for me.

Keep in mind that there are planned interventions on the line between Brussels and Mechelen - near Vilvoorde during that week-end (i'm taking a direct connection between Leuven and Antwerp - that doesn't cross that line, we go over Aarschot, Lier...). So use the online planner from the belgian railroads.

I think you're right Ivo, Both kmi.be as well as Meteovista still give rain until mid afternoon or longer. Also the general weather forecast on the radio confirms this.

Sunday looks much better (on all sites) so I suggest we move the meeting 24 hours later and meet each other on Sunday November 14 around 11:00 in "Grand Cafe Flamingo" on the entrance square of the zoo.

@ Addy, Fred, Domien and Ivo: Pls. post below that you have seen this post, I would like to avoid anyone showing up on saturday by himself.

I've seen the post - and i agree on sunday.

For the 2 tickets i have i'll send PM's with my Smartphone number - we'll try to use those, and as Fred proposed you can agree to split the advantage over the participants.

I have a year pass - so i can enter and leave as i like - to bring you the ticket.

For the corona-regulations:

See you next sunday (i plan to arrive around 9:36) - i can enter from 9:00 (one hour before normal visitors can).

I also have a year pass, but probably a different formula. I have free access (and so has my whole family) but didn't get free tickets I can give away to others. My only option is to buy cheap (5 €) "grandchildren tickets" but I think none of the participants qualify for that

See you sunday, don't know what time I'll arrive but certainly in time for our agreed meeting time at 11:00.

We're too late to ask for an official photo permit there (you need to request that 6 weeks beforehand) but I'll still send them an email to see what's possible. I've often walked around alone and taken pictures without a permit but always handheld, probably using a tripod without official permission is asking for trouble.

Did you send a mail and get a response Pieter?

The site of the Belgian railways states:
Hou er wel rekening mee dat je voor alle film- en fotoreportages (ook voor studie- of privédoeleinden) een schriftelijke toelating nodig hebt. Gaat het om een foto of filmpje dat wordt gemaakt zonder professioneel materiaal (bv. vakantiefoto’s), dan heb je geen toelating nodig.

Not really clear. But if professional material is the defining characteristic, I will use my Canon EOS R - with just one memory card slot it cannot be professional

Yes, I sent an email asking permission for today (the 13th), but I never got a response. Their site says they will respond "within 6 weeks", so I guess I will need to wait another four weeks before knowing whether we would be allowed to take photo's there or not. But I think as long as we shoot handheld without a tripod we'll be OK.
