And we're off

Started with a panic shot - I did not realise today it was 1 April and that the Foolishness had started. I found it quite difficult to keep the 400mm lens straight.

Anyway, decided to use the Canon 400/5.6L and Sony/Zeiss 55/1.8.

Ok, 1 picture uploaded as a thumbnail.

Could anyone help why the additional text is visible, next to my first shot of the month?

That text is if you link from Flickr. If you remove this "Flag[/URL] by [URL=https://www.flickr.com/photos/142276056@N02/]Andy" it will no longer appear.

A fine start so far! What a variety of pics!

I failed today. I had the lens on and 400mm was just too long for what I had in mind. (dogs playing in the garden) (I need a bigger garden!)

So, I'll post a pic in the training thread. (taken in march..)

Harm vb - if you are struggling with flickr and posting here, you could try searching for 'argotes flickr poster' Our member gregja has linked a backup copy at https://gregja.ckson.id.au/argote/ as the official version is offline at the moment. You plug your details in and you get a nice BB Code output ready cooked for cutting and pasting into a dyxum post. Top Stuff.

Day 1 standout so far IMO: Rov's "backyard" -- the boy's t-shirt for humor, the composition (boy's placement in the frame, the 'lone tree' in the background), the shallow DOF (perfect use of 28/2) all make me like this one.

Joe (Jozioau): very bendy Ferrari, surprisingly shallow DOF from a fish
AsD: very neatly framed
Robbie: the building in this composition has a sort of smile on its face

I wonder whether I'll get a shot in today

Happy to have got a photo in on Day 1. Having been in square/black and white mode all year, I shot the most colourful thing I saw.

The plan is a58 with Tamron 90mm f2.5, all colour, no square with a minimum of 3 a week.

Agree with @mikey2000 above, a nice and varied opening day.

My April 1 photo I couldn’t post till April 2. Went to the wetlands today and took a while to find a willing subject tgat I liked. We had a front roll in in the morning so weather was spotty until late in the day. For day 1 I like addy and rohazmans photo the best. On the latter I love the desert backdrop

Yesterday my 85mm, today my 24mm.
But, I used some spacers (tussenringen) to get into the flower. I brought in some Spring in the house, by buying some tulips.

Thank you Matt and Chris for the comments on my Day 1 photo.

Indeed nice start, but a bit slow... I was looking forward for more photos...

Selective comments from Day 1:
alanfrombangor - Nice family. I really like this picture.
addy landzaat - It is always nice to see a nice toy... And I am impressed with the 12800iso! I guess when you use such monster, you need to keep the shutter fast.
Harm vb - Your photo is the opposite of my desert photo... It seems that you need to clean your sensor.
