The whole idea for the construction was that 1 warden could see all prison cells (like the Panopticon). It was built like a dome, with one small observation post in the middle on the ground, so not unlike the panopticon.

One of the more interesting buildings on the campus here in Nanjing, it’s the library. It’s a sphere. The main boulevard at the South Gate leads up to it.
