there WAS one concert I went to where after I got in... and I got myself up to the very front and center (that's the ONLY way to see a concert btw ), one of the security guys came up to me and perhaps he knew a little about cameras... he said to me "Hey, that's a interchangeable lens camera, right? Because you're not suppose to have those" So, I said "oh, sorry..." and he told me to put it away... which I did, in my pocket since the 16mm f2.8 pancake makes it pocket-able. Then, his supervisor camera over and said... "I think it's okay... but if the band notice it, and if they say something, then you'll have to put it away" Obviously, I was able to use it throughout the show with no problems. I think rock band members have more on their minds than looking out for fans with cameras that can have interchangeable lenses

Well, here are three from a show I just did. I am very proud of these. All handheld, from the back of the house.
I do love my A580.

Great band (Bombadil - Bombadil News) at a small venue (fewer than 100 people).

I was super close to the stage, was only at one spot the whole time (couldn't move because it was packed and didn't want to get in anyone's way), and just had my 50mm 1.7 (and A37). :)

White balance was hard for me as parts of the stage was lit in red, other parts with blue or white light.

Hey Beardedspoooon,

I like your photos. Would you mind posting the settings you used?

John

Thanks!

Most of the images were at f/1.7, 1/80-1/125, ISO 800, no flash.

Here's a link to the set at flickr so you can look at the exif data: http://www.flickr.com/photos/91293865@N02/sets/72157632847515980/

Some black and white conversions:

some pictures from the Paul Kalkbrenner concert this evening. DJs are not very interesting on stage. but so I had more time for the fans and for practising :)

A beautifully and excellently created set. These are examples of the finest technique and composition. Almost as good as being present at the various concerts, personally. Now, where is the sound track?
Maxxum 450si, Sony A300, A700, A900 and a cubic meter of Alpha lenses

thank you! I can't offer you more than 30 second sound samples: http://www.lastfm.de/music/Eels/Wonderful,+Glorious

Wonderful glorious is their 10th album. it is okay, but it didn't catch me yet. but that just might be my fault ;)
the only two I really know and love are "beautiful freak" and "electroshock blues".
