G'day All Dyxum members,
Its Good to be back. Well, its been a while since Ive been in Dyxumland. Nearly 2 fully years, last visit was around 13July2020, from memory, when my wife and I had to leave the house we were renting because it got sold and we had no other place to move to other than a tent, well, our camper trailer that we bought early 2019 to do a trip out to Birdsville. Since July 2020, my wife and I have purchased a piece of land because there is basically nowhere in the region to rent and each house we went to look at purchasing, we were unable to make the purchase settlement in a short time frame because many others were cashed up ready to pay immediately and move into the house within 7 days. So that left us having to purchase undeveloped land, clear a house site, wait 4 months to get permission to burn a stack of timber that was cleared for the building site, dig out tree roots by shovel and crowbar, cut up fallen trees with a chainsaw and move them with a fridge trolley (no $$ remaining after banks demanded all our money as deposit), play Rural Fire Service version of "Snakes and Ladders" in an attempt to get a permit to burn the stack of timber that they demanded was stacked on the house site because we refused to clear the whole property and we stood up their their demands. Anyway, I wont bore you all with our long journey over the past 20 months. But I will begin a thread sharing some of the photos I had taken during that time, many with the mobile phone because of my old laptop was dying and and I didnt have access to backing up any of my photos in camera. Which I am still yet to do. I did take some with the cameras (yep Still A900 & A99). I just hope they are still working properly after they had be stored in our vehicles in their camera bags for the whole time. BTW, Did I say it was good to be back in Dyxumland? Just in case I didnt, ITS Good to be back home in Dyxumland. On another note, because the national Internet service carrier here in Australia being so unhelpful and their Analysis showing that people in regional dont want fast Internet, I pre-orded the StarLink Satellite Internet equipment back in December and it arrive 3 weeks ago and I have now had it working since yesterday and so far I have the say that the speed Ive seen out supplies the national Internet speeds. ![]() Regards, Craig |

Welcome back, Craig.
You'll hopefully find Dyxum is like a comfortable old slipper and fit right back in. Sounds like you've almost had to take on a pioneering role in carving out your patch on the Coral Coast. We have lots of photos to look forward to, illustrating that adventurous journey, as well as photos of the natural world in that beautiful part of Australia. As for your satellite internet connection, it's way faster than my fibre to the kerb home NBN connection in download speed, and about the same in its upload speed. So you've done well. Look forward to seeing your posts. |

Good to have you back here, Craig!
It seems you have reached an important point on your journey home. Having to leave a home and finding a new one is certainly a major, challenging passage in life - you have my sympathies. Looking forward to see some images! |

Thank you for the welcome back.
Yes, definitely re-pioneering. I had to keep reminding myself that I come from two pioneering families, one pioneered the citrus industry and the other the cattle industry in Australia. Even though we were living in a Rooftop Tent camper trailer, I kept telling ourselves that if my ancestors could see what we have, they would have said we had it easy / or wish we had what you have. During our re-pioneering, I kept going to the local photography club, so that I could clear my head of problems for a while, even if only a few hours once a fortnight. Regards, Craig |
