I picked up the Sigma alternative 28-70/2.8 DG DN. It is much easier to find good and cheap A-mount lenses then FE-mount lenses. |

One aspect which I haven't seen mentioned yet: Do you use JPEGs out of the camera or process raw files?
When I switched from the D7D to the A700 I did not like the Sony colors at all. Sony has subsequently improved the JPEG engine and the newer the camera the better I find the colors. Based on your set of lenses, I'd also recommend to go for a full frame camera. |

Appreciate all of the feedback, I found an a77ii on sale for $310, but the direction stick is broken so not sure what that repair entails.
https://www.adorama.com/us1597112.html I tend to shoot in RAW and jpeg just depends on what I am shooting. Lately it has been a lot of my Sons baseball games to share pictures with the parents. Edited by jricharc - 01 December 2022 at 14:41 |

a77ii at $310 seems like a VERY good price (depending on shutter-count)...
From a "reputable" dealer like KEH (who offers a 180-day!!! money-back warranty) I'd expect to be paying $650 and up, so in some regards I'd worry $310 was "too good to be true." [ edit: Oh, I see you edited while I was writing, and the unit is broken; you might ask the vendor to quote you a repair? Or you might ask for a further discount. Repair is likely to be $600ish, so the broken unit is only worth $50-$100-ish (unless you can DIY it). ] Edited by Steve-S - 01 December 2022 at 15:11 |

The big question is if the direction stick is truly broken, or just sticking and/or skipping. Mine has done this a couple of times over the years. After talking to a repair person that I had used before, he advised me to just shoot a quick burst of contact cleaner at the edge of the seal and move it around until it works normally again. It solved the issue and saved me a few hundred $ on repair. It may be worth taking a flyer on.

Sorry for the late reply. My non technical opinion is that I didnt click with the a77 and it went to a new home. I quite like the a99( which I bought very cheaply as the IS doesnt work-dont actually seem to miss this). I like the colours of the sony a850 and although I previously have liked large cameras am finding it a bit bulky. Last comment though, Id strongly encourage you to keep the 7d. In my view the best design of all sony/minolta digital with beautiful colours as well. Makes a great walk around camera too. Although, you probably know this. good luck
