I do not understand the pinky grips. I do not need my pinky to hold a camera.... I guess people differ. However, the A7r4 and later bodies have a taller grip so you won't need a pinky grip.

I have the Sony pinky grip for the A9 which I like when using long lenses. The grip was attached to my (used) A9 when I bought it and I donít think Iíve ever removed it. The grip has its critics because it prevents tripod use and blocks the battery door, but with long lenses I donít want the tripod mount, and the grip swings away quickly when I need to swap out the battery.

I bought the Meike pinky grip for my A7RIV which does provide an Arca dovetail and direct access to the battery. The extra grip height is nice.

On my A99II - and my A77II before I sold it - I usually had the Sony battery grip attached, so the addition of pinky grips to my A9 & A7RIV still leaves them smaller and lighter than the A99II.
For sale - A99II, grip, and various lenses

Like I said, people differ. I keep my left hand under the lens with long lenses. No need for a pinky grip.
A vertical grip I do understand, that is useful.

It would be funny if the next Sony camera was an A99III. It could be an A7RIV + LA-EA5 combined into an A77 body with teleconverter and Xi lens support. How long after the A7RII was the A99II?

An A77III is so unexpected now, but A6600 + LA-EA5 exists. I notice that A-mount gear is slowly disappearing from Sony's websites.

I got another A77II and just figured out that my nose lands on top of the joystick. A-mount is dead to me.

Make proper support for LA-EA5 adapter, no marketing bull$hits and ... Everything will be Okay, everything will be alright. :))) At least for 2020s.

Now A-mount bodies seem to be missing from latest sony.com redesign. Most A-mount lenses are still there.

Not listed:

SAL500F4G
SAL135F18Z
SAL50F14Z
SAL100M28
SAL50F14
SAL16105
SAL35F18
SAL30M28
SAL70300G2

The last one was never listed on it, and the older version is still listed. I am probably forgetting some others.

Yeah, I talked to Phototronics 2-3 years ago when all their A-mount stuff vanished off their lists. Sony has completely pulled the A-mount from Aus-NZ, and for some time now. It was a major driver behind my E-mount shift

Like somebody on SAR mentioned: in the US, A-mount is still mentioned in Japan.

it was always going to be silent. no one makes advertising style statements for discontinuing products.
This is kinda different in that it marks the end of new a-mount related gear but as far as sony is concerned they have supported those via. adapters and a-mount isn't actually dead.
