There is as much difference between the 7000, 7xi, 700si and the 7 as there is between the 7D, A700, A77 and A77m2.

Unlike Canon and Nikon, every Minolta AF generation was different. The 7xi and 700si were computerized cameras, like the A77 and A77m2. The A77 even looks like a better sized 7xi.

I think after 15 years Sony it is impossible to know how much Minolta is still in the Sony camera department.
