Very nice captures but not as sharp as i am used to seeing from your 500/8.
It looks like the focus is a little too far forward, is this because of the change of body? Is there something that is different in the A7R focusing that would do this?

I like the idea, the photo looks overly sharpened though. Have you thought about cropping a tad from the top?

Yes,I have.

Victor - for some reason none of the pictures you post are ever showing up for me neither on my phone nor my computer (email and browser). I have no problems seeing anyone else's pictures. Does anyone have the same problem?

Hi Tim, taking the last image as a reference, the original file of 36MP was only left with 2MP...pretty impressive stuff already...LOL...that took away a lot of sharpness.

Also the subject was about 12m-15m away with branches shaking...not that easy. I took a couple of shots on manual focus with peaking followed by magnifying the focus. At this distance, the mirror lens is not optimal. I would say they perform best around 4m-10m

Usually I use A900 + SAL 70-400. Slightly croped, resised.
There were enough light during the session. Direct from the sun and reflected from the snow.
And short distance to the birds
