Since 2 weeks ago there are several young flamingos just next to my work. I started working there only few months ago, but the seniors say that few years ago it also happened and the flamingos who stay in this spot during winter are migrating flamingos (unlike a large constant population who stays in a different location around here) who could not make it further south. According to the seniors, they will slowly die here. I hope they are wrong...

And here are some picture from the other location, of the constant population who stays there (and breed there) year long:

Nice shots Shay, you're lucky to have such a nice birding place close to your work.

Let's hope that, at least the colour differences can be explained by different diet, more carotenoids they get from the food, brighter the pink/red colour gets.

Heikki, in addition to the diet, these colors (of the flamingos from the first set) are typical for young (first winter) flamingos.

Pieter, yes, it is really nice. The flamingos are just in front of the entrance to my work. Typically there are many other birds there, such as herons, kingfishers, cormorants, stilts, swallows, bee-eaters and more. 1 km north of my work (on my daily drive to work) there is the birding center, and 10 km north (still on my daily derive to work) is were the other location where the flamingos (and other birds) stay year round. It is a really great place for birds lovers!
Although, when I am at work I am not in the state of mind of photography, so usually I do not stop to take some photos...
Anyways, to dilute the too many words with some birding photos (this is what this thread is about!), here are some photos of birds other than flamingos from my work location..

Lee, Domien,
Beautiful images you've both posted. A real delight to the eye.
