The eye of that goose is so sharp with the Minolta 100-200mm lens, I wonder if the G rated lenses are really necessary. Nice job Lee.

Day 11. These Red-winged Blackbirds now have most of their feathers and should be leaving the nest in two or three days. Now enjoying a tasty dragonfly from mom. I have read that only the mothers feed the nestlings but I have seen the father bring them food also.

This young Green Heron was in the nest not too long ago but is now bouncing around the low branches overhanging the pond.

Red-winged Blackbirds Day 12. They left the nest today but are still being fed by parents.

Thanks. I think the Minolta AF 100-200mm 1:4.5 is probably the most over looked lens in the Minolta line up. Yes, the minimum focus distance makes it inappropriate for small birds close up; but medium sized things from a medium distance it rocks. At less than half the size and weight of the "beercan" it's a great hiking lens that literally fits in a pocket.
