Black grouse female.

Yeah I know, it isn't a "tight shot" by any means. It wasn't a guided tour, I had seen these fellas prior around this place and decided to drag the Nikkor 500/4 out on the moor (had to take two trips from the car). They spook very easily and I was in a hide all night. Might make a dedicated post but "tight shots" rule and mostly it was an almost spiritual, well as much as anything can be for me, night out : ) Liked early morning light too.

Ruby-throated Hummingbird (F). My thumb must have brushed the rear wheel as I thought I was at 1/1600 at F2.8.

As I promised in Day Prime 2020 Training Centre posting, here is some proper pictures of the two-barred crossbills (Loxia leucoptera):

1.

α7R II + Sony FE 2.8/100 STF GM OSS @ 100 mm, T/5.6, 1/640 s, ISO 400

2.

Sony RX10 IV @ 120.9 mm (= 35 mm eqv. 330 mm), f/4, 1/2000 s, ISO 400

3.

α7R II + Sony FE 2.8/100 STF GM OSS @ 100 mm, T/5.6, 1/640 s, ISO 400

4.

α7R II + Sony FE 2.8/100 STF GM OSS @ 100 mm, T/6.3, 1/800 s, ISO 800

5.

Sony RX10 IV @ 220 mm (= 35 mm eqv. 600 mm), f/4, 1/2000 s, ISO 320

And yes, RX10 IV is neither A nor E mount camera, but occasional pictures with non-Alpha cameras should be tolerated in Dyxum and today I had to make a choice between a fieldscope and FE200-600G and thus I ended up packing the fieldscope and RX10 IV. The fieldscope I wanted to take to be able to see yellow-billed loon (Gavia adamsii), which I managed to see, although I couldn't snap a photo of it as just after I spotted it, some idiotic fishers on a boat moved to the spot where the bird was just moment earlier. There was also a harsh backlight... So then I ended up photographing these crossbills.

Our resident blackbird. Finally had my A68 + Minolta 75-300 at hand while it enjoyed some apples we didn't clean up last fall.
