On a local construction site, a group of riparian swallows (Dutch: oeverzwaluwen) have started to make nests in a pile of sand. Since these birds are a protected species here, the area has been fenced, and construction activities had to be stopped.
Today, I tried to capture the birds. Since I am not a real experienced birder, it was quite a challenge. #1  #2  #3  #4  #5  #6 "The wall"  A99ii + 70-400G, heavily cropped (and some help of trial versions of Topaz AI Sharpener and Gigapixel AI.  Motacilla alba, occasionally seen in Alaska. Have to say the FE-200-600 without the hood and foot is a bout fivehundredthousand times more fun to carry and use than the Minolta 300 2,8 HS and the Nikkor 500/4 P :) Edited by Kilkry - 10 May 2020 at 18:43 |

In the pond at Herttoniemi Manor Park I found this lone common goldeneye (Bucephala clangula) chick. Don't know where his/her mother and siblings were, but this little fellow was swimming and diving alone.

That's a great set of sightings on a simple exercise walk! And very well photographed and presented, too. In the Covid-19 lock-down I've read that wildlife is becoming more prevalent and bold, with so much less human activity and noise to compete with. Or is this your usual daily walk bag? TFS. |

Most of these are usual sightings in this reserve, Shrike-tit is more a seasonal one that tend to come traveling through again once it gets cooler. |
