Today I managed to see a new species that I hadn't seen ever before: brown shrike (Lanius cristatus), which is rare vagrant in Europe (and this particular individual was the second one in Finland) since its breeding range in further in the east...

Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird. The light has to be just right to show the neck as red. Close here but not good.

I see a fair number of Barred Owls but usually there is a stick, pine needles or other obstruction across their face. The lighting was not the best but at least this guy gave me a clear shot.

Well-spotted, Bob! It is very unusual to get a clear shot of these magnificent birds. Perhaps it's just me (or resizing of the image for posting), but it looks a bit over-sharpened on my display. TFS... Brian |

TFS... Brian[/QUOTE] Brian, you are probably correct. I probably applied the Unsharp Mask in PaintShop Pro both when I cropped and again when I resized. My last settings are: Radius 2, Strength 200 and Clipping 5. Thanks for the insight. |
