For couple weeks I have been attempting to get photographs of the kingfisher that has been wintering along the small stream near my home, today I finally got few reasonably decent shots despite that the bird has tendency to seek thick bushes to hide. Or alternative if the bird was not hiding in the bushes, it was flying quickly away (and I obviously I wasn't prepared to photograph just then).

While walking along the stream, I finally saw another bird that has been spending time there this winter:

Lovely kardinal shots on the previous page Lee! Especially the first and third. That last woodpecker in the snow is a nice capture too.

Addy, I believe those birds you photographed are:

1. Village weaver (Ploceus cucullatus)
2. Cape sparrow (Passer melanus)
3. Helmeted guineafowl (Numida meleagris)
4. Leucistic helmeted guinefowl? I guess this might be a domesticated bird, especially as it has ring on its leg...

Today's birds with Sony 200-600.
This lens, however, is sharper on stopping down to F8.0.
I was suggested by tests that showed sharper F6.3
