After a 20 day straight stint at work finally a day off and I got to scratch the old Azure itch again. Had 3 birds in the same location, one real up close.

Azure Kingfisher.

Shame about that branch but I didn't dare move a muscle and risk scaring it off.

Same bird, different perch.

While taking the above 2 more birds flew in on some more distant sticks.

Johan, great pictures of the Azure Kingfisher and the Musk Lorikeets. Must have been quite a tonic after your heavy work stint.

And Victor, beautiful waxwing pictures.

A real pleasure to see.

I'm glad you're out and about again Fred, with a nice series as the result.

I also went out with my tele yesterday, after all the wide angle "day prime" stuff I felt I needed a little practice with a long lens, and birds are a good subject for that.

1: The head of a male mallard but the body seems to indicate some kind of mixed breed

2: Two geese on the lookout

3: A great tit, hiding between the branches

4: Female crossbred between a white duck and a mallard
