Thanks. Yes they're the ones, my daughter was swooped upon when she was about twelve requiring a stitch, she's been very wary of them ever since! There's quite a thriving bicycle repellant helmet business here with all sorts of spikes to keep them at bay, faces painted on the back as they usually attack from the rear, even mirrors to see them coming....

That does not look like barn owl (Tyto alba), but those ear tuffs are prominent feature of long-eared owl (Asio otus). But you have certainly found that owl in very photogenic environment.
