Lots of Purple Swamp Hens around a lake on a vineyard in the Yarra Valley out of Melbourne that we visited today.
All a1, with SEL2470GM for the first one, and SEL200600G OSS for the rest.

Thanks for comments about those Purple Swamp Hens and chicks taken with my 'new' a1.
Their walking pace was just what was needed for me with my training wheels on.

I look forward to shooting quick moving birds in flight at high shutter rates, but that's what I will need to graduate towards. The prospect of trawling through all those frames to pick a decisive image or two feels a bit daunting. But no doubt worth the trouble.

Ooooops, thanks Johan, I should have known it's just that the wings looked a lot bluer than the pair I have in my back garden. Just googled and see the back difference also
