Black-chested buzzard-eagle with his very unique plumage I was happy to see at a Eagle Observatory near Salzburg, Austria, getting ready to take back to the sky.

A recent trip to Tāwharanui with kid 3, let me spot a lot of rare and endangered bird species.

So I also took some photos with the Sony α1 and 100-400mm GM

Takahē

This is only the second time I've seen this species in the wild, as it has been relocated to 3 small North Island reserves. Including Tāwharanui a few years ago.

Korimako

While not considered threatened, it has been locally extinct in a few parts of NZ, including Auckland/Northland. It's been reintroduced here.

Pōpokotea

This species belongs to an endemic family of birds, Mohuidae, of which there are only three species. While not considered endangered the population has been decreasing.
I was particularly pleased with how this shot looked, as I was on ISO8000 to capture it.

α1- Voigtländer 15/4.5, 110/2.5 M; Zeiss Loxia- 21/2.8, 35/2, 50/2 & 85/2.4, Zeiss Batis- 85/1.8 & 135/2.8; Sony 24-105/4 & 100-400/4.5-5.6; Sigma 70/2.8 M; Sony 135/2.8 STF

Thanks Michele, actually they're not that much pink, there's a very slight pinkish purple but here there's reflection from the orange base of the feeder which was a drainage plate from an old plant pot. It also shows up in the underside of the cockatoo in #1.
