I agree

Anyways, here are some example of what I manage to get with this lens (without the TC on it). Not even close to your great photos...

I agree that Ken has posted some excellent shots recentlym but I would be more than happy to shoot something like yours Shay!

"Angry Bird"

occasionally, I capture these shots where the owl was in the act of blinking and get this annoyed or mad look, I think it's cute

More great shots from you Ken, with that killer kit and your mastery of technique (including lots of patience, both on site, and I'd imagine in reviewing, culling and post-processing at your computer).
I find it interesting to see the settings you are using by seeing the images with all the EXIF included on your Flickr site.
Although these results are being achieved with a top camera and lens that really cannot be emulated with any other combo, I suspect.
Thanks for sharing.

gear porn it is! *drooooooool* but Ken is a true master!

how much 'easier' does an A9 make this kind of sports?
assume you used a tripod? (since the images are so crisp! unless you are a serious sharpshooter? ;-)). does it have a swing head? and if so, what about limitations / frustrations? are there any? (asking because I can't imagine shooting flying birds from a tripod, while popping up 'everywhere'. always wondered how people manage to do that).

thanks guys for the kind words!

the a9 and the 200600G is truely my prized possession. I would love to eventually shoot other wildlife... This summer we're going down to Montana by car... we're planning to go through eastern BC (towards Alberta) and hopefully get some shots of mountain goats/rams.

Ken,
What an exceptional shot!! The stuff of 'Wildlife Photographer of the Year". If I were you I'd enter it.
I can imagine this is your pick of quite a series taken during the skirmish.
Who won??

thanks! They both parted ways fine. In the area, they get into it here and there, but it's never "that" serious
