Thanks Michele, Charles and Wang but somehow they seem a bit artificial to me. They look quite alright when I see them full size on my monitor but here there's no resemblance. I don't know whether it's the low resolution of 1024pix when seen on my 4K monitor which is 3840x2160 res or that I'm sharpening at the wrong time in my work flow. I've been meaning to see them on another lower res PC to check but being in lock down that hasn't been possible. I'll keep experimenting.....

Again so many good ones.

Brandy - Great Darter - love the brief change from the swallows - obviously fishing the pond . I'm no help on your monitor sharpening/viewing business. They look fine to me. I think I can see what you're referring to around them popping ridiculously out of the frame - I just put it down to your mad skillz and the a1+your little collection of expensive, large, white e-mount peepers.....I'm sure Sony R&D wouldn't mind that....my very amateur take is not the sharpening but more the highlights or the brightness? For me #5 looks a tiny bit more dialled down on the bird's shimmer/lustre compared to the other ones and hence maybe looks more "natural" or what your noticing on the web version? All different monitors and viewing so loads of variables as you've indicated as well.

Lab - got all your geese in a row hehehe - nice pic

Mambo - nothing pedestrian about your red-tailed hawk!! Good one.
