Thanks Fred.
No, it's an 'Old' lens (4 years exactly). But still sharp and versatile.
Especially on e-mounts, that help with eye-focus.
Like you managed well in this gull shot.

Domien,
Great shot of the owl in flight. Surprised how un-aerodynamic this bird looks with its large flat face basically resisting the air movement so effectively.
I guess the acoustic dish design for hearing its prey is more important.

Thank you
I can only confirm. They really look like a pipe with wings.
But sitting you see their flat face resembling all large owls

Out again with the SEL200600 G OSS on my a7iv and set for bird eye AF, continuous shutter mid, 1/2500 second. Pretty common subjects around Melbourne's Port Phillip Bay. The ubiquitous Silver Gull and the less common Crested Tern.

Long way to go to hone my expertise to the level of many of the regular posters in this thread, but happy with what I feel is a reasonable start.

My nemesis is back in the area again it seems, been turning up like clockwork around late Feb since 2015, hangs around for a few months then goes MIA. Always catches me out unprepared and usually with poop light.
Today was no different, 70-200mm lens on the camera and totally overcast skies.
Square-tailed Kite from the backyard.

Crosspost with my Photo150 Challenge

A Pair of Takapu (Australasian Gannets)

Sony a9 with Tamron 150-500mm.
Shot at 500mm, at f8, ISO 250 and 1/4000s.

To prevent the white feathers blowing out in the bright conditions, I also dialled in a -2EV adjustment, then brought up the exposure in C1, while bringing down the highlights.

Wonderful image of the two gannets in fully co-ordinated balletic formation, separated by their degree of focus.
