Thanks. Kind of cheating. A colony of them live in a remote abandoned farm builing and if you approach it, some may fly out.

A masterful set of photos of your 'speciality' Peter.
Very interesting to observe those young White Faced Herons being left behind by the parent. The Starling closing its beak on its flying bug snack is timed to perfection. The Swallow splash and Cormorant touching the water with its wing tip likewise. Must say I got a good appreciation of just how difficult it is to photograph Swallows in flight yesterday when picking up my grandson from school, walking across a municipal park lawn where Swallows (or maybe Swifts) were darting at high speed just above the tips of the blades of grass with beaks wide open, scooping up whatever insects they stirred up on their flights. The challenge of tracking them with camera and long lens made my head spin. So well done on your routinely successful photos of these tiny speedsters. |

Thanks for the kind words Joe and Charles. I know what you mean by making your head spin. At my age I've got to be careful that I "spin" smoothly or I could put my back out!!
