Thanks Brian, MinoltaMad and Fred. I was just checking in to post some more but see I'm still the last cab on the rank so will give it a bit of a rest for a couple of days or so..... |

Black tern (Chlidonias niger) by Hans Krabbendam, on Flickr
Last year I spent a whole morning in the Ooypolder near Nijmegen to observe Black terns that were nesting on small artificial islands. I could only get one in the frame when they were hovering above the water to look for something to eat. It was very difficult to follow them when they came flying by in full speed. The RX10 mark4 (borrowed it from my wife) did a pretty good job, fast and accurate AF and easy to handle. |

Few birds in flight
1. Eurasian magpie (Pica pica) α1 + Sony FE 5.6-6.3/200-600 G OSS @ 600 mm, f/6.3, 1/1600 s, ISO 320 2. Common magpie (Pica pica) α1 + Sony FE 5.6-6.3/200-600 G OSS @ 600 mm, f/6.3, 1/1600 s, ISO 640 3. Fieldfare (Turdus pilaris) α1 + Sony FE 5.6-6.3/200-600 G OSS @ 600 mm, f/6.3, 1/1600 s, ISO 400 And yes, the camera used is mine, I did trade two A-mount cameras and nine lenses and few accessories plus significant chunk of savings for this beast that can take way too many frames without noticing if you use silent mode... |

Great start Heikki. Sting of the price will soon be forgotten. Best of luck with the a1.

Welcome to the club Heikki, as Robert says the sting will soon be forgotten and you'll be surprised how much easier those difficult shots are. I'm still in awe every time I go out and the editing is so much easier too. When I saw your 'porn' post I was scrolling up from the bottom seeing the 50mm f1.2 and the 600mm two lenses I would love to try and thinking who is this, he really must be loaded. You then spoilt it for me by not claiming ownership |

I certainly do not regret getting α1, only I regret a bit selling the trade-ins rather cheaply (maybe I should have tried to sell them myself, but then it might have taken little longer to sell them). Sure. I was shooting these last week in Germany (Diepholz area) where the Cranes gather, feed, and rest during their long flight to the south of France, where they spend the winter. More to come |

Looking forward to them! I’d thought they had gone south a couple of weeks ago. |
