Peter: The Birds in Flight pictures are pretty much SOOC. I usually lightly use Curves, Saturation and the Unsharp Mask in Paintshop Pro. On the stationary birds sitting on utility poles in the Birds forum, I attempted to clone out power lines and cables. ISO is generally 1000 or lower. Thanks for your comments. I am sure your eye for detail is sharper than mine. All comments welcome.

Thanks Michele and Charles. Robert, there's so many good noise reduction/sharpening products out there that virtually a one click does the lot. I'm thinking DxO Photolab 6, ON1RAW, Topaz Photo AI which are the ones I've trialed. As to the eyes I very much doubt it!! ![]() |

There really are some amazing birds-in-flight photos in this thread.
My own achievements are a little more modest. Here's the Poaka above the Ahuriri Estuary in Napier, NZ. #1 ![]() #2 ![]() Both taken with the Sony a9 and Tamron 150-500mm lens. |

Thanks Heikki, I really should be more careful and get myself a bird identification book. I did have one but it disappeared some time ago. The white face now seems obvious

Not as nice as Anand's Asian bee-eaters.
But the European version is colorful too ![]() |

That is still very nice I'd say. I find most of this species being colourful a bit like kingfishers.
You have done well to catch one in flight, I found it near impossible because they are so quick and unpredictable. The only flight shots I managed were ones very very far away with a massive crop, cropped to 1.5MP from a 33MP file ![]() ![]() |
