Great shots Paul! I like the last one best with that perspective. Great flying work.

Too hot to go out today [40+] so what better way to pass some time
Interesting comments on my green wing, hadn't thought of algae but that would fit as they were near some wetlands.

Pelicans with A77 and 70/400mm lens.

The last three are all great Peter! Cool birds Pelicans... I have only had the one opportunity to shoot them. They made it up to Victoria one winter a few years ago! (Pretty far NORTH for Pelicans!!)

I did previously post this one about 6 years ago in the old "Show Us Some Birds..." thread, but with everyone's indulgence I'll re-post it in the context of Peter's recent flying pelican shots:
a700, Minolta 80-200mm f2.8 G at 80mm, f5.6, 1/200 second, ISO 200.

I'm cheering (silently) for the pelican to turn towards you just a bit in the last three, but they are still great shots @Brandy especially the third. (I'm no longer one for the "shots of x must meet criteria a, b, and c" way of thinking with wildlife photography).

Paul, this was taken in Metung on the Gippsland Lakes in Victoria. Every morning pelicans would gather around the waterfront hotel where the chefs or kitchen hands would feed them fishy offcuts. There are a series of finger jetties and I was on one away from where this big bird landed, and of course it was taken with a tele-zoom. Nevertheless, it was very impressive how this very large and heavy bird could pull up so quickly and precisely. No birds or photographers were hurt in shooting this image.

Thanks Mike and Paul. Brian it was great to have a reminder of Frank Mancini too, he helped me a great deal when I first started.
Anyway more exhumations from the archives, amazing what you get done when you're housebound!! Actually I haven't been too pleased with recent efforts as I think I've maybe over sharpened with the new Nik local adjustments built into DxO. They look reasonable in Photolab but quite different here. I'll just have to keep experimenting.

Some Egrets again with A77 and 70/400mm

Brandy - #3 is spot on, and I really like the color tones in this one. Well done!

Thanks Barry, they may appear to be the same bird bu each is different, hence the varying background tone. More to come hopefully.

C'mon, where is everyone? I'm getting the feeling I'm all alone here... Anyway here's three more of my little green friends from a couple of days ago. Still trying for the perfect shot.

Your perseverance is admirable Brandy!
Do you mind if I share an older one then to keep you company? Less colorful then yours though.
