Week Monday, May 29 - Sunday, June 4, 2023

SIGN-UP

This is your opportunity to see things in BLACK & WHITE (and all the greys in-between) and avoid those dreadful colors of the world! Grab it! It’s fun! Sign up for the weeklong BLACK & WHITE challenge!

Please read the guidelines!

GUIDELINES

1. Take photographs every day and post one picture for each day in the daily thread (pic-a-day).

2. Photos must be black and white! Greys are allowed as well.

3. Use only A-mount or E-mount bodies (Minolta/Sony/Hasselblad). However, you are allowed to choose other brands/bodies (Minolta SR, Konica AR or any brand/body you like) on two of the seven days. That stated, it should be clear that (B/W) film and film bodies are allowed for shooting on these two days as well.

3. Please try to comment on the photographs posted by others – there will be a Talk Thread for this purpose. Try to contribute to the Talk Thread every time you post in the Photo threads, please join in!

4. You may wish to challenge yourself further. E.g., "one prime lens only" or "all macro" or “only Dutch angles”. State your challenge when you sign up. Add as many details and conditions as you want. You can change it up until the start date. A perfect challenge will be, ahem, challenging but not impossible to pass.

5. Delayed posting is, of course, allowed (particularly if you shoot film). But try to catch up ASAP – so your thumbnails in the Thumbnail Thread are complete (for a later vote on an exhibition). Minimal processing is encouraged. This challenge is about shooting, not processing.

6. There will be an Outtakes Thread in case you want to see more than one of your images posted. Other than B/W images are allowed here (color, split tones …).

7. In case you are just not able to shoot an image at a particular day you are allowed to post an image from a previous or a following day twice.

8. Before the start of the challenge images (following the Guidlines) can be posted in the Training Thread.

Any questions left? Please ask them below!

Sign-up below and describe your individual challenge (if you opt for one)!

I think I can manage one week of B&W.

Me too.

Is toning allowed or must it be pure black and white and all the shades in between?

I'm in. Looking forward to it.
I'll limit myself to the Carl Zeiss 85mm f1.4 Planar, either native mounted on my a99ii, or on my a7iv via LA-EA5 adapter.
Camera will be set to Black and White shooting mode.

Even though I haven't brought my commenting up to scratch for April Foolishness, I'll sign up for a week of Black and White. "Hakuna Matata"
