I spent several years working on a book Remember which is a tribute to veterans and their families. The public release of the book was several weeks ago, to include a listing on Amazon in the U.S. With the public release also comes some local events (Tallahassee, Florida, U.S.) to include this interview on a local news program. Many of you have become a photography family to me and I have "met" many of you via images of you with Dyxum group outings. I thought this was an appropriate way for me to introduce myself to you in a more personal way. Beware, it is a twenty minute video. May each and everyone of you have a wonderful holiday season.

Roger,
Just watched the video of your interview. Thanks for sharing it with us. Most interesting and insightful, and congratulations on getting your wonderful book published. No small undertaking, and no mean feat.
Hopefully it will be the start of more publications - you certainly have a fine folio of evocative and themed artistic photography to work with, that deserves a wide audience.
And as Fred said, it was nice to virtually meet you this way.
Hope you had a merry Christmas, and all the best for New Year 2024.
Joe

Dear Roger,

What you're doing there is important. It's an sensitive piece of Artwork.

Due to the word Veterans i wanted to watch the interview, you caught the intrest of more than the US, it seems. We're thankfull you share the existance of your book with us.

We shouldn't forget about them, especially in Belgium - in fact we should keep those stories alive.

There are lots of ways in keeping them alive, and your book is an example. I'm more than happy that we know a few good guides that share a lot of information about those events in the past with us (going from fortresses built in Brick to visits of war fields and other kinds of monuments, and elements of remembrance).

Now, by publishing this book, you became of those guides, Roger.

I've found the book on Amazon.com so we may be able to procure that publication.

Of course we do wish you all a merry Christmas and a productive, happy & healthy 2024.

I need to find the time to watch the interview - but I definitely will.

In the meantime, I've posted below the link via Amazon UK (though it should be the same globally) for the book Remember; it is something which every artist, photographer, poet and all High School students should be urged to read and contemplate Rogers experiences and lasting memories and feelings which has bought this about. Absolutely worth the effort.

The Amazon link Remember.

Best regards, Neil.

It is not available on Amazon.nl or Bol.nl - it is seems available on Amazon.de but doesn't ship to NL. Amazon US seems to ship to NL.

@Neill - that is a Amazon.com link, not an Amazon.co.uk link. Couldn't find it on Amazon.co.uk but maybe that is because I am in NL.

Hi Addy - thanks for the clarification; seems the UK site can often 'link; directly to the USA for specific items (I've been caught out like that in the past for Swedish Art glass of all things!).

Best regards, Neil.

Thanks all for the responses and for taking a look.

minolta-mutley - The message of the book is universal. Each image is paired with a poem, quotation, song lyric or short essay. Several of the poems are from WWI British poets and one from a contemporary Brit poet who authorized my use of his poem. In addition, the first offer of an exhibition of the images and words came from a Russian in 2019 who I met at a photography festival in Houston, Texas (U.S.). Plans were made, U.S. State Department approval was received and we were set for a Moscow art museum. Then COVID hit and then relations significantly deteriorated between the U.S. and Russia so it has been canceled.

Howard - Thanks. I liked her questions in that I did get to explain a little about my photography "style" and thinking as it affected the book. I thought some here might be interested in that part of the interview (i.e., documentation vs. interpretation and Harold Feinstein's "show something to the viewer so they feel they are seeing it for the first time", especially so with iconic subjects like a number of the images in the book.
