Cam was one of the first Dyxumer to make me feel welcome when I joined. I recall a couple of PMs we exchanged when he had given sound advice in his particular warm and friendly manner or suggestions and criticisms in our open forums.. A mentor I never had the chance to meet. But a Dyxumer many of us feel bonded with due to his likeable nature.

His family should know he'll be missed by his friends from across the globe particularly from this forum.

My condolences to his family.

Late to the scene as ever but very sorry to hear of Cam's passing - he will be greatly missed.
+1 on the idea of collecting these messages for his family - my condolences to them but with so many great memories they'll have much to fall back on when the going gets tough.
Sleep well Cam

Thanks Mladen for sharing the news (I just saw on dpreview). I remember Cameron very fondly (gruff as he was !) and this news makes me very sad. He worked hard to help make dyxum what it is today. RIP Cameron.

I miss our Skype video chats with discussions on our massive lotto winnings(max $40 ), the All Blacks, the Balck Caps ( currently playing Sri Lanka in NZ), our love for classical music (he liked jazz too but not my cup of tea)>
And of course Dyxum:
the relative merits of POTW candidates and why some got through and others didn't.
Horizons!!
other stuff I shall not mention to protect the innocent and save the guilty further embarrasment

I will be passing on all your condolences to his family next Thursday at his funeral.

I can barely imagine how this is affecting you. I have been lucky so far as (except for one tragedy that I will never forget) the only funerals I have attended have been for elderly relatives.   Somehow for them, it was a blessed release.   Losing a friend is so much harder.

I never met Cameron or even skyped etc but I am finding myself deeply affected by his passing.

Next Thursday will be hard, hard indeed.

An extraordinary man, I will miss his contributions and comments and thoughtful moderation. Just a wonderful man that I am honored to have known even from a distance.

It's interesting how even in a forum such as this you can somehow measure the character of a man even based on just his "text" comments. Cam was always a kind, understanding and supportive host here, even when he scolded me for misbehaving.

I remember a few years back I posted in the Self Portrait Thursday thread and he commented "You look like me", as we shared the same grey beards.

Truly a remarkable individual. He will be missed.

My prayers for Cam's family and friends. He was and is an inspiration to the many photographers who found his images and words inspirational.
